Essential cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you logged in and keep the site secure. These can't be switched off without breaking the site, so they don't need consent.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see which pages actually help people and which ones fall flat, so we can make the site better. It doesn't identify you personally, and it stays switched off until you say yes on the cookie banner. You can change your mind any time by clearing the choice in your browser.

When you say yes, it sets two cookies:

  • _ga, which tells one visitor apart from another.
  • _ga_RKGPF97EYV, which keeps your session together as you move around.

Both last up to 2 years. Say no and neither one gets set.

We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and where they came from. It sets no cookies at all, stores nothing on your device, and doesn't follow you to other websites, so there is nothing there for you to switch off and it runs whatever you choose above. It's here because the Google Analytics numbers only cover people who said yes, which makes it impossible to tell a quiet week from a week when nobody clicked the banner.

Advertising

We use the Meta pixel, which is how we can tell whether an advert on Instagram or Facebook actually brought anyone here, and whether they went on to sign up or buy. It also lets us show our ads to people who have already visited the site. Like the analytics, it stays completely switched off until you say yes on the cookie banner, and if you say no it never loads at all.

When you say yes, it sets one cookie:

  • _fbp, which lets Meta recognise the same browser across visits. It lasts up to 3 months.

It tells Meta which of our pages you opened, and if you create an account or buy something, that it happened and what it was worth. We never send it your name, your email address or your card details.

Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though doing so may stop you staying logged in.
